Summary

All your tools, loans, locations and maintenance records stay on your device. Gearbin has no account, no cloud sync and no analytics. Subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat.

What we receive

Nothing. We have no accounts or servers for this app, and nothing from your inventory is sent to us.

What stays on your device

  • Your tools and their details, such as serial numbers, barcodes, purchase prices, suppliers and warranty dates, plus locations, maintenance records and the move history are stored on this device.
  • Tool photos and invoice photos you add are stored in the app's own storage on this device. The app only sees the photos you pick; it has no access to the rest of your library.
  • Loan records, including the borrower names and optional phone numbers you enter, signatures and handover photos, are stored only on this device. Gearbin does not read your contacts.
  • Your settings are stored on this device. The widgets read a small summary that the app saves on the same device.

We cannot see this data. It is not uploaded to us.

Permissions the app may ask for

  • Camera: Optional. Asked only when you open the scanner or tap Take photo, to scan barcodes and QR labels or to photograph a tool or a handover. Images are processed on your device.
  • Photos: No permission is needed to pick photos: the system photo picker hands over only the pictures you choose. If you save a QR label image to Photos, iOS may ask for permission to add it; Gearbin cannot read your library.
  • Notifications: Optional and off by default. Asked only when you turn reminders on in Settings. Reminders are scheduled on your device.

Every permission is optional and can be changed later in the iPhone Settings app. Features that need a permission you decline simply stay unavailable.

Data that leaves your device

The app talks to the following services. Each receives only what is listed, and only for the purpose shown.

  • RevenueCat (subscription management): Used to handle your subscription: an anonymous user ID, purchase and subscription status, and basic device and app information. Nothing from your inventory is sent. Their privacy policy.

Sensitive information

Names and phone numbers of the people you lend tools to are entered by you and never leave your device unless you share a backup file or a loan history report yourself.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, card or payment details. The app checks your subscription status through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous ID and your purchase status, not your identity.

Ads, tracking and analytics

No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, and no data is sold. The app contains no analytics SDK and no AI features.

Children

Gearbin: Tool Inventory is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Keeping and deleting your data

Settings > Delete all data removes everything the app stored on this device, including photos, loans and settings. Backup and CSV files are saved only where you choose. Deleting the app also removes all of its data from this device.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or KVKK), you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Because the app keeps your records on your own device, you can do most of this directly in the app or by deleting it. For anything else, or for data held by a service listed above, email [email protected] and we will help within 30 days. In Gearbin, viewing, editing and deleting your records is free; exporting them as a JSON backup or CSV file is a Premium feature.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date below before the change ships.
