Tracewise: Allergen Scanner Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Summary

Your allergen list, history, sugar log and photos are stored on your device. When you scan, the photo, the label text your phone read and your allergen list are sent to our AI service to get an answer, and our server does not store them. Subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat, and feedback you choose to post goes to WishKit.

This policy covers the Tracewise: Allergen Scanner app for iPhone and iPad, published by mk0.net, an independent app studio. It is written from what the app actually does in its code. Questions: [email protected].

What we receive

Photos you scan pass through our AI server together with the label text read on your phone, your allergen codes and app language, and our server does not store them. We have no accounts for this app. A random install ID is used only to limit how many requests a device can make.

What stays on your device

  • Your allergen list, gluten and sugar settings and preferences are stored on this device.
  • Your scan history, favorites, notes, tags and sugar log are stored on this device.
  • Scanned photos are stored as files on this device.
  • Your free scan count, a service sign-in token and a random install ID are stored in the iOS Keychain on this device, which can survive deleting and reinstalling the app.

We cannot see this data. It is not uploaded to us.

Permissions the app may ask for

  • Camera: Asked when you take a photo of a food label to check it.
  • Photos: Asked when you pick an existing photo of a label to check.
  • Notifications: Asked when you turn on daily reminders or the weekly summary. These are local notifications.

Every permission is optional and can be changed later in the iPhone Settings app. Features that need a permission you decline simply stay unavailable.

Data that leaves your device

The app talks to the following services. Each receives only what is listed, and only for the purpose shown.

  • mk0.net AI service (runs on Cloudflare Workers) and OpenAI (photo identification): Only when you scan: a resized copy of the photo, the label text your phone read, your answer language, the codes of the allergens on your list and a random install ID. A second request may send the same photo with the item name to get extra details. Their privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat (subscription management): An anonymous app user ID and your subscription status, when the app checks, starts or restores your subscription. Nothing you enter in the app is sent. Their privacy policy.
  • WishKit (in-app feature request board): Only if you open the feedback board and post or vote on a feature request. Their privacy policy.

Sensitive information

Your allergen list is health-related. It is kept on your device and sent only as allergen codes inside each scan request, which our server does not store.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, card or payment details. The app checks your subscription status through RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous ID and your purchase status, not your identity.

Ads, tracking and analytics

No ads, no tracking across apps or websites, and no data sold. The app contains no analytics SDK.

Account

No account needed. There is no sign-in.

Children

Tracewise: Allergen Scanner is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Keeping and deleting your data

You can delete individual checks in My Foods. Deleting Tracewise removes your allergen list, history, sugar log and photos from this device. The free scan count and install ID in the Keychain may remain after deletion.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA or KVKK), you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data. Because the app keeps your records on your own device, you can do most of this directly in the app or by deleting it. For anything else, or for data held by a service listed above, email [email protected] and we will help within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date below before the change ships.
